First Steps
Most issues can be resolved with these three actions:
1. Clear Your Browser Cache
Outdated cached data is the most common cause of unexpected behavior.
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data > Cached images and files
- Safari: Develop > Empty Caches (enable Develop menu in Preferences > Advanced)
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data
- Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data
2. Hard Refresh the Page
A hard refresh forces the browser to reload all assets from the server:
- Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
- Mac: Cmd + Shift + R
- Alternative: Hold Shift and click the browser refresh button
3. Log Out and Log Back In
This resyncs your session with the server and refreshes your account data:
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Select Log Out
- Close the browser tab
- Open a new tab and navigate to RoomEnhance
- Log back in with your credentials
This resolves most issues with credits not displaying correctly, features appearing locked, or stale data.
Browser Issues
Try Incognito/Private Mode
If issues persist after clearing cache, try an incognito window:
- Chrome: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + N
- Safari: File > New Private Window
- Firefox: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + P
- Edge: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + N
If the issue disappears in incognito, a browser extension is likely the cause.
Disable Browser Extensions
Extensions can interfere with RoomEnhance, especially:
- Ad blockers (may block API requests)
- Privacy extensions (may block necessary cookies)
- VPN extensions (may cause connection issues)
- Dark mode extensions (may conflict with the built-in theme)
Try disabling extensions one at a time to identify the culprit.
Try a Different Browser
RoomEnhance works best on modern browsers:
- Recommended: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox (latest versions)
- Minimum: Chrome 90+, Edge 90+, Safari 15+, Firefox 90+
Connection Problems
Check Your Internet Connection
- Try loading another website to confirm connectivity
- Check if you see any error banners in RoomEnhance
- Look for "Network Error" or "Request Failed" messages
Switch Networks
If you are on Wi-Fi, try:
- Mobile data: Switch to your phone's cellular connection
- Different Wi-Fi: Connect to another network if available
- Wired connection: Plug in via Ethernet if possible
VPN Interference
VPNs can sometimes interfere with RoomEnhance:
- Try temporarily disconnecting your VPN
- If that resolves the issue, try a different VPN server location
- Add RoomEnhance to your VPN split-tunneling exceptions if supported
Firewall or Corporate Network
If you are on a corporate or school network:
- RoomEnhance requires access to
roomenhance.comand our API services - Ask your IT department to allowlist these domains if they are blocked
Mobile-Specific Tips
Clear App/Browser Data
On mobile, cached data can become stale more easily:
- iOS Safari: Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data
- Android Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
- In-app browsers: Open the link in your default browser instead
Update Your Browser
Ensure your mobile browser is up to date:
- iOS: Update Safari through Settings > General > Software Update
- Android: Update Chrome through the Google Play Store
Check Available Storage
Low device storage can cause issues with image uploads and downloads:
- iOS: Settings > General > iPhone Storage
- Android: Settings > Storage
Aim to have at least 500 MB free for smooth operation.
Desktop-Specific Tips
Update Your Browser
An outdated browser is a common source of problems:
- Check for updates in your browser settings
- Restart the browser after updating
- Clear cache after the update (new versions sometimes change cache formats)
Check System Resources
If RoomEnhance feels slow or unresponsive:
- Close unnecessary browser tabs (each tab uses memory)
- Close other resource-heavy applications
- Check your system's available memory (Activity Monitor on Mac, Task Manager on Windows)
- Restart your browser if it has been open for a long time
